Our goals in studying the Alexander Technique are to first learn to restore the buoyant, spring-like nature of the reflexive postural system. Later we can begin to approach higher level skills – sitting, standing, playing guitar, etc. – where we learn to maintain the new, lengthened and expansive coordination we have achieved without indulging in the habits that cause us pain, tension, and ultimately limit our skill and development.
I am an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher, I graduated from The Dimon Institute, the world-renowned center for the study of the Alexander Technique and Psycho-Physical education, and I am a professional musician who has used the Technique both in overcoming harmful habits and achieving a more effortless and mindful approach to my instrument.
